Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars supports and encourages students to pursue higher education after high school whether at a community college, a four year university, a trade school, or technical school. High school seniors in the greater Riverside area may apply for scholarships, which are provided by local individuals and organizations.

With support from the parent organization Scholarship America,  the Greater Riverside Dollars For Scholars chapter  is a locally operated and supported 501(c)(3)nonprofit scholarship organization. The organization is managed and operated by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.

Since its inception in June of 1994 Greater Riverside Dollars For Scholars has awarded scholarships totaling over $2 million to deserving and talented students. Each year in February, the Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars Committee receives and reviews scholarship applications from high school seniors. Scholarship awards are based on overall merit, as this is not solely a needs-based program.

The overarching purpose of Greater Riverside Dollars For Scholars is to encourage high school students toward higher education by awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Alvord, Corona-Norco, Jurupa, Moreno Valley and Riverside unified school districts as well as the California School for the Deaf and Sherman Indian High School.
